At the heart of every Spanish-speaking community, the plaza is a place for people to come together and connect. Inspired by this metaphor, Plazas: Lugar de encuentros draws students into the study of Spanish by creating a meeting place in every classroom. Each chapter of this successful beginning Spanish program unites the latest in language-teaching research with the reality of student and classrooms today, providing opportunities for real-life communication using the rich and colorful threads of Spanish-speaking cultures.

The idea of community is inherent in the Plazas program. As this site evolves, you will have the opportunity to meet your colleagues, share ideas, communicate with the authors, and explore the Third Edition of this exciting first-year program, which is scheduled for publication in October 2007. You will also have the opportunity to not only learn about the innovations planned for the new edition, you will also be able to experience them—live and in real-time—for yourself.
