When Marco Orsini, a film student from Rome, receives a Mini Copper—an unexpected and generous gift from his uncle—he is inspired to take a road trip across Italy. Along with Giovanni, his close friend and fellow filmmaker, Marco decides to make a video diary about their travels!

They embark on an exhilarating journey that takes them from Rome to the lush hilltops of Orvieto, and on to experience the Gothic charm of Siena, the dazzling Renaissance art of Florence, the vineyards of Emilia-Romagna, the culinary delights of Bologna and finally to the mysterious city of Venice. Along the way, they meet Italians from all walks to life and ask them about various topics—from their favorite food and soccer teams to their option on contemporary cinema and Italy’s membership in the EU. This captivating video diary transports you into the rich linguistic, cultural, and culinary diversity of Italy and inspires you to take your own Italian journey!

Both our Introductory Italian texts, Ciao! and Adesso, An Introduction to Italian, have Video Update Editions which provide students with viewing activities and a DVD of the video.

“I am enthusiastic about exposing our students to authentic speech—including local accents and other forms of non-verbal communication. Students and teachers alike will appreciate having a program that is so culturally and visually rich, and also fun to watch.”—Julia Cozzarelli, Ph.D., Ithaca College

“The video does a great job of connection the language with the setting in which it is spoken. It takes the language beyond the classroom environment.”—Student, Bunker Hill Community College
